Our Mandate

As part of the Evangelism and Outreach Department, Cathedral Social Outreach expresses the love of Christ through practical service. We respond to real needs while making Christ known through tangible acts of compassion.

What We Do

1.Food Relief and Response to the Needy

The Cathedral responds to urgent needs by providing food and clothing to vulnerable individuals who seek assistance. Alongside material support, beneficiaries receive pastoral counselling and guidance, ensuring care that addresses both immediate needs and long-term well-being.

2. Medical Camps

The Cathedral organizes regular community medical camps in collaboration with qualified healthcare professionals, hospitals, and medical partners. These camps provide essential preventive and curative services, including medical consultations, basic treatment, health screenings, referrals, and health education.

3. Education Scholarships

The Church supports access to education by sponsoring bright and vulnerable students from humble backgrounds to pursue studies in secondary schools, colleges, and universities. Through this investment, we nurture the next generation of leaders by removing financial barriers and enabling students to reach their full potential.

4. Capacity Building for Economic Empowerment

  • We conduct annual smart farming training in partnership with Christian Impact Mission in Yatta, equipping participants with practical skills to improve food security and generate sustainable income.
  • In 2019, we trained young mothers in Kayole on the production of washable sanitary pads for sale, as well as for distribution to Tujisaidie School and Bahati Secondary School in Kayole.
  • We trained women in Kibera and Kawangware on the production of bleaching detergents as an income-generating activity.
  • We trained youth from St. Jerome Parish in Kibera on rabbit rearing as an income-generating activity.

5.Strengthening Strategic Partnerships with Churches and Para-Church Organizations

The Cathedral actively strengthens strategic partnerships with churches, para-church organisations, and ministry networks to extend outreach to unreached and underserved communities across the country and beyond. Through these collaborations, we support church planting initiatives and mission work.

6. Prison Outreach Ministry

  • The Cathedral conducts regular prison visits, providing pastoral counselling, essential supplies, and encouragement to inmates, fostering hope and rehabilitation. We also have in the past actively supported the reintegration of released inmates into society, collaborating closely with Nairobi West Prison to ensure a smooth transition.

7. Donations to Hospitals, Children's Homes and Elderly Homes

  • The Cathedral conducts targeted donation initiatives to support hospitals, children’s homes, and elderly care facilities within Nairobi and its environs. These initiatives respond to identified needs and aim to uphold dignity, improve well-being, and demonstrate Christian compassion in action.
